I do love Italy… the country, the people, the food — and the occasional Aperol Spritz 🍹
I’ve visited quite a few areas over the years, including some of the islands.
But one place I hadn’t been to was Puglia.
It’s been on my list for a while… and 2026 felt like the year to finally do it.
So I started researching.
Flights, hotels, buses, trains…
There was a lot to think about.
I came across a small Italian company offering guided tours over a week.
Small groups, set itinerary — it covered most of the places I wanted to see.
On the face of it, it looked ideal.
But when I looked a bit closer…
It was really just the guided element.
You still had to sort your own hotel, your own flights, and even getting from the airport to the base town wasn’t straightforward.
No train routes, limited buses — so likely a taxi.
That’s when I paused.
We’d be a “group”… but not really a group.
Arriving separately
Staying in different places
Working everything out individually
And then there was the cost.
Once I added everything up…
It was more than I would normally spend.
So I decided to try something different.
I reached out to an agent.
Shared what I was looking for, my budget, and my dates…
And what came back just felt… easier.
Flights, hotel, itinerary — all working together
A proper small group
Even a couple of free days built in, which I love
Yes, I’ll be travelling on my own
But I won’t be figuring everything out on my own
Is it absolutely perfect?
No… very few things are
But it’s pretty close
And in less than three weeks, I’ll be there
